Edinburgh born Ross Wilson spent his creative formative years in East London, then moved to South England “to be by the sea’s energy” but it is in his homecoming that he has found where his heart is. Life wasn’t always simple for Wilson. “I have swapped one type of chaos for another” says Wilson.

Now a committed enthusiast and creative whirling dervish, Wilson has seen the past few years produce his most exciting work including the album ‘THE BALLAD OF PECKHAM RYE’, which was nominated for the prestigious Scottish Album Of The Year Awards.
‘…AND LO! THE BIRD IS ON THE WING’ followed up as a second album. The album was coupled with an extensive tour taking in Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, London, Cardiff and all points in between. The end of the ‘…AND LO’ tour was marked by a sell-out Celtic Connections show at the 1000-capacity City Halls with Sarah Jarosz. Blue Rose Code played very well received shows in Ireland at the start of 2017, a tour that moved from Dublin through Wicklow, Galway and Belfast.
The much anticipated album, ‘THE WATER OF LEITH’ will be released November 3rd 2017 accompanied by an extensive UK tour.
Previous albums have featured such luminaries as Ewan McGregor, Danny Thompson, Karine Palwort and the late John Wetton and this album will be no exception, featuring Julie Fowlis, Kathleen McInnes and the incredible vocal talents of Beth Nielsen Chapman.
Centred around Wilson’s own homecoming to his native Scotland, the album explores the variety of journeys that life has to offer. As Wilson explains;
“It speaks to the journey home, my journey home, the man that I am today, so changed from the wee boy that ran away. I’ve found a peace that I left looking for, back on the same cobbled streets, looking at my life through a fresh pair of glasses. Controversially for a songwriter, it seems, I am contented, happier than I’ve ever been. Given up all hope of a better past, I’m rejoicing living in this beautiful series of moments.
The Water leads me back to the Shore and, from there, who knows? What I have learnt, however, is there is nothing wrong with right now.”
